The Closing Educational Gap in E-privacy Management in European Perspective

Educational gaps are increasingly salient as skills and knowledge gain prominence in digital societies. E-privacy management, namely, the ability to control flow of information about self, is an important asset nowadays, since a skillful use technologies enables full participation social life limits exposure unwarranted algorithmic processes. We investigate whether why education affects e-privacy educational vary following country’s degree digitalization. empirically test two sets mechanisms, one derived from divide diffusion innovations theories other reflexive modernization theory. The study employs Eurobarometer 87.1 data ( N = 21,177), collected 2017 among representative samples 28 European countries, uses multilevel linear regression model. Findings suggest that years spent positively affect this effect largely mediated by Internet use, lesser extent mind-set. gap management narrows more digitalized countries.
